Communities Around Lago de ChapalaWe do not use the legal boundaries for local communities, but rather divide the area up into areas more meaningful to the average home seeker. For Ajijic, for example, we break the area up into smaller sections -- Ajijic, La Floresta, West Ajijic -- and under those names we list specific subdivisions and even areas within subdivisions. For more distant areas we group many communities together under one name -- in some cases names we have chosen ourselves arbitrarily to represent an area -- such as Near Northshore for communities west of Ajijic but east of San Juan Cosala, and Far Northshore for communities between San Juan Cosala and Jocotopec. Areas east of Chapala all the way to Mezcala have been labled East Northshore. Listed below are the main divisions (in capital letters) and the communities, neighborhoods and subdivisions we include in those divisions. When dealing with realtors, they may not recognize some of the terms we have coined for main divisions, but they will know the community, neighborhood and subdivision locations. Communities for which we have ten or more current listings have a link to current summary statistics -- fewer than ten listings have no link because there is too little data to generate meaningful statististics.
